Manual grinding holder for grinding and polishing samples, to ensure preparation of samples for FIB liftout. These holders allow for a samples to be epoxy-bonded to an SEM stub, to ensure that the sample and the SEM stub is flat after grinding, minimising tilt-errors when performing FIB.
SEM stubs can be easily removed via a sideways locking screw, to hold the sample in position, or ca be bonded directly onto the holder using a heat-sensitive bond (e.g. crystalbond).
The smaller locking ring allows sample heights to be set via rotation, and the final grind depth can be measured using caliper tails or depth/height gauge, with feed rate of 1.5 mm/rotation, allowing for adjustments with ~20um precision.
The holder is compact (35x50mm) and is readily transportable. Contact us if you require holders with different base materials, or finer rotational accuracy. Discounts are available for bulk orders, please contact us.
